How do I enable plain text pasting for templates?

Enabling plain text pasting is easy! Typedesk lets you set any template to paste without formatting.

This is especially useful when you're working with:

  • HTML code snippets
  • Command line instructions
  • URLs and links
  • Code blocks that need to preserve exact formatting

How to enable plain text pasting

  1. Open the template you want to edit
  2. In the sidebar on the right, click the Settings icon (the gear icon)
  3. Check the box next to Copy as plain text
  4. Click Save to apply your changes

That's it! Now every time you use this template, it'll paste as plain text without any styling.

What does this do exactly?

When enabled, the styling of your template is stripped out when copied. This means:

  • Bold, italic, and other text formatting will be removed
  • Font sizes and colors will not be preserved
  • The text will match the formatting of wherever you paste it

Can I enable this for multiple templates at once?

Currently, plain text mode must be set individually for each template. There isn't a bulk option to enable this across multiple templates at once. If you have many templates that need this setting, you'll need to edit each one separately.

Does this work on all platforms?

Yes! The plain text setting works on the desktop app, browser extension, and web app.
