How does the browser extension work?

The Typedesk browser extension lets you find and insert your templates while working on webpages.

It is available for Chrome and Firefox. It can also be used with Brave and compatible Chromium-based browsers.

You need a Typedesk account before using the extension. If you do not have one yet, create a free account.

Install the extension

Choose the extension for your browser:

• Install Typedesk for Chrome
• Install Typedesk for Firefox

Select Add to Chrome or Add to Firefox and follow the instructions shown by your browser.

After installation, the Typedesk icon should appear in your browser toolbar. If you do not see it immediately, open your browser's extensions menu and pin Typedesk to the toolbar.

Open the Typedesk extension and sign in when prompted. Your templates will then be available through the extension.

Use your templates

There are two convenient ways to insert a template:

1. Type a shortcut assigned to one of your templates inside a supported text field.
2. Press Alt+C on Windows or Option+C on Mac to open Quick Access, search for a template, and select it.

If the Typedesk desktop app is running, the extension detects it and lets the desktop app handle the insertion. You should still get one template, not an accidental encore.

Because websites use different types of text editors, we recommend testing the extension in the websites your team uses most frequently.
