Can I import my existing templates?

Yes. No need to hand-copy a small novel into Typedesk.

External imports are completed by the Typedesk team. There is currently no self-service importer for content from another product.

Import assistance for Premium

If you have a Premium plan, prepare your templates using the Typedesk import spreadsheet.

The spreadsheet contains the following columns:

• Title: Required. The name of the template.
• Shortcut: Optional. The letters used for the typed shortcut. Symbols are removed during import.
• Folder: Optional. The folder where the template should be placed.
• Variant name: Optional. For example, Default, English, Spanish, Formal, or Friendly.
• Content: Required. The body of the template.

Once your spreadsheet is ready, contact the Typedesk support team. We will review the file and confirm the next steps.

Importing from TextExpander

Typedesk has a dedicated staff-run importer for TextExpander CSV exports. Contact support with your export so the team can check it before importing your content.

White-glove Enterprise migration

Enterprise migration can include:

• Creating folders
• Creating templates
• Organizing imported content
• Configuring sharing
• Configuring folder permissions

This gives your team a tidy, ready-to-use workspace instead of a giant folder named "Imported stuff." Much nicer.

Import timing depends on the amount and condition of the content. Typedesk does not currently promise a standard turnaround time.
